Central Boiler OEM Maxim stainless steel aerator assembly replacement part #9710 designed to provide proper combustion oxygen flow for efficient outdoor wood furnace operation. Compatible with Maxim M175, M250, M255 P, and M255 PE models.  Aerators are devices used for aeration or mixing air with another substance. The aerator in a Maxim supplies oxygen to the fuel for complete combustion. It is connected to the firebox end of the burner auger (the lower auger that feeds fuel to the burn chamber) and turns to help mix the air with the fuel.  A failing aerator may contribute to poor combustion, smoke issues, or inconsistent heat output.  How air flows through the furnace is an important part of optimal operation.  Smoke in the hopper is an indication that the air flow through the furnace is restricted, obstructed or different than it should be.
